Happy 4th of July!

We’re canning figs and cooking on the grill to celebrate. My MIL has a fig tree in her backyard that seems to be making up for lost time—we picked 10 quarts yesterday, and we’re going to head out in a little bit to pick more for Fig Pie:

Fig pie
1 c fresh figs mashed
1 c sugar
2 beaten eggs
¼ c flour
½ stick butter
Mix well and pour in bottom crust, cover with top crust. Bake at 350 F oven until hot.
Gotta love East Texas cuisine!
