I’m a PhD candidate in English at Rice University, specializing in British Romanticism. My dissertation, “Silence, Sentimentalism, and the British Romantic Novel,” considers the limitations of female speech as it relates to the sentimental genre through an examination of novels by Frances Burney, Ann Radcliffe, Walter Scott, and Jane Austen.

I’m also currently writing a novel set during the 1928 Democratic National Convention in Houston, and an ever rotating group of short stories. This blog is a place to talk about all things reading, writing, and publishing.
